History Holly Hill Florida

HOLLY HILL, FLORIDA IS ONLY 3.79 SQUARE MILES. It is located North of Daytona Beach and South of Ormond Beach. Holly Hill was named by William Flemming in 1877, when he built a home on the 4000 acres he owned along the Halifax River. His fellow settlers agreed to the name and it stuck. With the established post office, a general store and a school, the little community quietly grew into about 50 souls by the end of the century. In 1901, by a vote of 31 people, it incorporated. Holly Hill is an important slice of riverside development with a blend of commercial and quiet residential areas, Holly Hill is said to be the locale of Bill McCoy's rum-running business. His pride in his product led him to putting his name on every case, and pretty soon the whole country was looking for the "Real McCoy."

Life in this little community is as pleasant, peaceful, and rewarding as you'd expect in a town called "City with a Heart." There are many social and civic organizations that welcome visitors and friends. For your dining pleasure you have Ormond Beach just north of you and Daytona Beach just south of you with restaurants for everyone's taste.
