Florida Limousine Service

History Orange City Florida

The first inhabitants came to Orange City, they were Timucua Indians. During the 1820's they became extinct due to disease and war. In the early 1850's, Louis and Mary Ann Thursby became permanent residents at Blue Springs on the St. Johns River. In 1875, H.H. DeYarman founded the first hotel in what would become the Hotel of Orange City (this hotel still does exist and is called the Heritage Inn). In 1978, the first public still school in Volusia County was founded in Orange City. Orange City was named for the thousands of acres of orange groves that were planted in and around the city. Orange City is snuggled between Deltona and Deland.

Much infomation about what there is to see and do can be found at Visit West Volusia.
